Put My Experience To Work For You
I don’t just talk about small business, it’s been my life for decades.
Automotive Accessory Industry
From our local company which catered to automobile dealers my wife and I learned the struggles of running a small business. We branched out to graphics design, a sign business, and built concept vehicles for Ford Motor Company.
Eventually, I was VP of International Sales and Marketing for a large auto accessory buying group.
Accessory Industry Awards
I’ve received numerous industry awards from SEMA,
- In 2014 I received the Jim Borré Lifetime Achievement Award from SEMA.
- SEMA PRO Council Restyler of the Year 2000
- SEMA Ambassador numerous times
SEMA PRO Council
I became involved with leadership activities within PRO almost from its start. Starting with being elected to the Select Committee, I served on and chaired various committees and task forces. In 2007 I was elected Chairman-Elect and began my term as Chairman in 2009. As Chairman-Elect, I had the privilege of working alongside Chuck Blum, who was Chairman of PRO. Together, Chuck and I charted the course for PRO for years to come. Our initiatives included Novemberfest, a themed reception held each year at the SEMA Show for PRO to honor award recipients. We also developed the Technical Skills and Training Conference, a co-operative effort with manufacturers, SEMA staff, and restylers to provide product knowledge and training.
Beyond the Accessory Industry
I’ve been a public speaking instructor for over 30 years, presenting programs to groups ranging in size from workshops to civic arena audiences of over 3,000 plus. I speak nationally for Tom Shay’s Profits Plus Solutions (www.profitsplus.org)
I have been a freelance writer for automotive trade magazines as well as Dog News (serving the sport of purebred dogs) and AKC Gazette.
Additionally, I provide my services as a small business consultant with a focus on digital marketing. With a background in accounting and decades of experience as a small business owner, I work as “another pair of eyes” for clients to help them examine their business operations. My clients include a wide array of industries: Medical practices, automotive accessory companies, veterinary, retail stores, nonprofits, eCommerce retailers, target ranges and gun dealers, pet supplies industry – just to name a few!
SCORE is a national organization of small business volunteers who work to mentor and counsel small businesses. Funded by grants from the SBA, you can truly say this is “your tax dollars at work”. I’ve been a SCORE volunteer for several years. I urge any small business person who is reading this to run, not walk, to their nearest SCORE chapter and make an appointment to meet with a counselor. They are local business people, some of them retired, many still actively running small businesses. They are successful people who have decided to donate some of their time to helping their community. Take advantage of it. They will help review your business, show you how to write a business plan, and give you guidance to improve your efforts.
When I work with your company or organization, you’re getting another pair of eyes to give an objective look at what you’re doing. I’ll help you find your strengths and build on them; and your weaknesses which we’ll work together to fix.
